I am really depressed and discouraged by things. You are one of the most level-headed and balanced posters there... I really am not liking the way that I'm seeing you being allowed to be treated. There really are some bullies over there. |

Yay for crack smoking illogical ridiculous reylo-tainted people. Let us all unite, no matter our actual thoughts or arguments, into a Star-Wars-based Borg-thingy.
The more civil and articulate one tries to be, the worse. Maybe I should be mean and rude. Then I could vent some spleen, even if I'd get banned for it.

everything is going to be alright...I am back at JCF I'm sure that you can save me. I should have less faith in humanity and then my hope would not be disappointed. I can see why I spent the first 36 years of my life avoiding traditionally male fandom spaces. (Oy, now I've given my age away). |

There really are some bullies over there. Not only are they bullies, I feel like they got encouraged by a certain mod leading by example, and now feel like they can say anything. Some of that behaviour is really crossing the line  (I'm in my 30s as well. I feel betrayed! We were supposed to be starry-eyed gullible teenagers, the lot of us!) |

Thanks for all the love. I appreciate it. I feel loath to abandon the redemption forum, but it may be necessary because unless it gets flooded with new people, there will be no one willing to have a good faith argument.
Maybe I should follow others' example and write some meta. I think there are some good things to be said about genre (esp. tragedy, comedy, and tragicomedy) regarding the trilogies. Also things to be said about redemption storylines and female integration of identity. And some other stuff.

I've been posting here and there in the redemption thread too but am honestly getting tired of the negativity. Responses are super dismissive and have a pretty rude undercurrent, it's just not necessary. What's wrong with someone perceiving the film differently? There's also a rather alarming lack of willingness to acknowledge that there could be subtext, innuendo, hidden meaning, ANYTHING in Kylo or Rey's words than the literal straightforward thing that they're saying. The literature student in me can't help but despair at that...I'm not saying Star Wars is Shakespeare, but come on.

Lol This thing that a mod was fueling the other antis made me snap today (they didn't need to be fueled since they already looked pretty much bloodythirsty to me before )... I should never read that thread again .. which feels so wrong since I've always been more concerned on redemption than Reylo. But now, this abrupt hostility is turning me full Reylo just in spite of them! |
